Drew has also had a successful film career as an actor, with roles in Adulthood (2008), Harry Brown (2009), 4.3.2.1. (2010) and The Sweeney (2012). In 2012, he released the film Ill Manors, which he wrote and directed and made the music for,[2] accompanied by a Plan B soundtrack album which became his second number one album.
In March 2012, he released the single and video for "Ill Manors", a song (containing a sample from Peter Fox's "Alles neu") which deals with the 2011 London Riots, and which was described by The Guardian as "the first great mainstream protest song in years".[17] A soundtrack album and film of the same name (Drew's first as both writer and director) were released in June 2012, followed by three more singles: "Lost My Way", "Deepest Shame" and "Playing with Fire". In July 2012, Drew issued an apology after he appeared on the cover of Shortlist magazine wearing a t-shirt featuring white supremacist rock band Skrewdriver.[18]

When a series of dust storms reached far-flung Washington, DC, in the spring of 1935, a reluctant Congress was finally convinced to allocate resources to help stabilize the soil. With government subsidies and direction from the newly created Soil Conservation Service, practices were introduced to help hold down the earth. Grasses were replanted; shelter belts of trees were planted to slow the persistent winds; contour farming or terracing was used to farm in line with the natural shape of the land; strip cropping was used to leave some protective cover on the soil; and crop rotations and fallow periods allowed the land to rest.
While some of the Dust Bowl land never recovered, the settled communities becoming ghost towns, many of the once-affected areas have become major food producers. By 1933 wheat production in Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado was slashed by nearly three-quarters from its 1931 high of 411 million bushels, taking until 1947 to reach that level again. In 2012, the wheat output of these four states exceeds 700 million bushels, a third of the U.S. wheat harvest.
This plan B really helped me during the two weeks before Christmas break. My 5th period class of sopohomores (just before lunch and well known for their whole class as being more immature) gets quite unfocused. They did very well working together on the activities that I wrote up about one of our stories. Thank you, Martina.
It's part of a program called CATCH, or Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Health, designed to combat teen pregnancy in the nation's largest city. The program, quietly implemented in five NYC public schools in January 2011, now allows nurses at 13 high schools to distribute emergency contraceptives following unprotected sex or a contraceptive failure. Between 2011 and 2012, 567 students received Plan B, says Alexandra Waldhorn, deputy press secretary with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. (Meanwhile, 580 students received the birth-control pill Reclipsin as part of the same program.)
That's why advocates believe CATCH will help lower pregnancy rates in New York City, where more than 7,000 young women become pregnant by age 17. Typically, 90 percent of those pregnancies are unplanned, and 64 percent are aborted. The 13 high schools where the program is being implemented were chosen because of a dearth of health services nearby, and because they serve a student population known to have a higher risk of pregnancy.
Another concern: Those who oppose the program worry that easy access to Plan B will encourage careless behavior; if students know a backup plan exists, why bother protecting themselves in the first place? But research suggests that's not the case. A 2005 American Academy of Pediatrics report, for example, concluded that "an increase in awareness and availability of emergency contraception to teens does not change reported rates of sexual activity or increase the frequency of unprotected intercourse." Breuner, who wrote an AAP policy statement on emergency contraception that will be published in December, adds: "No studies have shown that access to Plan B causes kids to be sexually active."
It's unclear if other schools nationwide will follow NYC's lead, but if the pilot program proves effective and reduces pregnancies, others will perhaps take similar steps. "This is extremely important to me as a woman, a mother of a teen daughter, a sister, and an aunt," says Breuner. "Access to contraception and family planning has been an issue for years, and I hope this sparks a discussion, and that women realize it's available and won't hurt them. This could have a huge ripple effect on women's rights, far greater than just those 13 schools."
Jessica Sheets Pika, spokeswoman for the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, told the AP that "if the health center is manned 24/7, that sounds like it's a sufficient protection.
It is just as well that you cannot judge a book by it's cover, because if that was the case, then we'd have to assume 2012 albums by the likes of Jack White, Alabama Shakes, Delilah and many more were a load of old rubbish.var player_width = 640;var player_height = 360;var pub_id = 322;var domain = 'www.gigwise.com';var vast_version = 2;var gdpr = 1;
Boehner is pathetic but only in that he actually was gullible enough to take Obama at his word. No way would anyone in their right mind agree to tax hikes now for spending cuts later. I'm glad Boehner's plan got shot down. Too many progressive parasites in this country want things for free. Let's go over the cliff so that they are forced to pay for those "freebies" that Obama has promised them. Perhaps, then, they'll realize that everything comes at a cost, whether your're in the 1% or the 99%.
John Boehner is not normal. Why did he jump into plan B without consulting his people first? Has anyone noticed how Boehner walks? He never swings his arms. He walks as if he is on parade. Unless some people changes this man completely, physically and mentally, there is no work will be accomplished under his leadership.

Levine and Kearney, who authored a large-scale empirical study investigating the role that income inequality plays in determining early, non-marital childbearing in 2012, assert, "[W]hether or not young girls get access to Plan B will have no discernible impact on the country's extraordinary rate of teen childbearing." As of last year, American teens were two and a half times as likely to give birth as compared to teens in Canada, around four times as likely as teens in Germany or Norway, and almost 10 times as likely as teens in Switzerland.
Russian composer Shostakovich is one of the writers nominated in the Best Contemporary Song category at The Ivors this year, 38 years after his death. It's thanks to Plan B's 2012 single, Ill Manors, which uses the spiky violin melody from the fourth movement of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7 to accompany a rap about social injustice and society's attitude to the disadvantaged youth population of the UK.When Shostakovich's politically-charged symphony was first performed in 1942, it was seen as a symbol of Russia's struggle against German bombings in the Second World War. In its reinterpretation in Ill Manors, the aggressive violin music underlying the lyrics is intended to add a sense of 'visceral energy' to the music, to get the attention of the listeners.Shostakovich is one of six writers to receive a credit for the song, which is nominated alongside other pop tracks by Emeli Sandé, alt-J, and Olly Murs. The ceremony will be held in London on Thursday May 16.
The model works like this: all risks can be categorized based on their likelihood to occur and impact in the event they do occur. Using high, medium and low rankings, any risk can be categorized in a 9-box table (see chart). A critical risk is when there is a high impact to the risk and either a high or medium probability of occurring; a low risk has low impact and either low or medium probability, or a low probability and medium impact. Low risks can be accepted, with no defined strategy for mitigating. Moderate risks require a defined and viable plan B that can be executed in the event the plan A does not work. Critical risks require both a plan B and C. 2ff7e9595c
